About red light therapy
What is red light therapy?
With red light therapy, you expose your skin to red and near-infrared light at specific wavelengths. Your cells absorb this light in the mitochondria, where they produce energy (ATP). Research has linked this to skin repair, post-exercise recovery, and improved circulation. No UV is involved. Another name for it is photobiomodulation.
Learn more in What Is Red Light Therapy?.
Is red light the same as infrared?
No, not quite. Red light (630 to 660 nm) is visible and works mainly in the skin. Near-infrared (810 to 1072 nm) is barely visible and penetrates deeper, reaching muscles and joints. Our panels combine both.
It’s also different from an infrared sauna or heat lamp: those work through heat, while red light therapy uses light that your cells absorb. Read red light versus infrared sauna or what each wavelength does.
When will I notice results?
That varies from person to person and depends on your goal. Light works cumulatively: its effects build with regular use. For your skin, expect 4 to 8 weeks; many customers notice something sooner with recovery and relaxation. That’s why you have 180 days to try it out at home at your own pace.
Does red light help you sleep better?
Red light does not inhibit melatonin production, unlike the blue light from screens. That’s why many customers use their panel in the evening as a regular time to unwind. Research has linked this to better sleep quality. Results vary from person to person.

Safety
Should I close my eyes during red light therapy?
Red and near-infrared light contains no UV, but the LEDs are bright. So never look directly at the panel. Each panel comes with protective goggles: wear them when illuminating your face, or keep your eyes closed.
Near-infrared light is barely visible. So even if a panel appears to be glowing faintly, the light is on. Always use the LED mask with your eyes closed and without contact lenses.
Can I use red light therapy every day?
Yes. Daily use is safe if you stick to the recommended duration: 10 to 20 minutes per area. Longer or more frequent use is not better. Consistency matters more than duration. If your skin is sensitive, take a rest day now and then.
Does red light therapy have side effects?
Red light therapy is generally well tolerated. After a session, your skin may be a little red or feel warm for a while. This fades quickly. If your skin feels hot or the redness persists, shorten the session or increase the distance. If it continues, stop and contact us.
Can I use red light therapy while pregnant?
There is no research describing harm, but there has also been very little research involving pregnant people. We therefore recommend caution: do not expose your abdomen or lower back to the light, and consult your midwife or gynecologist first. Read more in Red light therapy during pregnancy.
When should I consult my doctor first?
Consult your doctor or pharmacist first if you:
- take medications that make you sensitive to light, such as certain antibiotics or acne medications;
- are being treated for a skin condition or a serious illness;
- have epilepsy that can be triggered by light (do not use pulse mode).
Red light therapy is a wellness application and not a substitute for medical care.
Use
How often and for how long should I use red light therapy?
Most people start with 10 to 15 minutes per area, 3 to 5 times per week. Gradually build up to 15 to 20 minutes. The manual includes a schedule for each goal: skin, muscles, joints, and relaxation.
How far from the panel should I sit?
For your whole body or larger areas, keep a distance of 15 to 30 cm. For a targeted session on the skin, you can move closer, to about 10 to 15 cm. The closer you are, the stronger the light and the warmer it feels.
Do I use it with or without clothing, cream, or makeup?
Expose your skin directly: clothing blocks most of the light. Use it on clean, dry skin without makeup or a thick layer of cream. Apply serums and skincare after the session.
Is it better to use it in the morning or in the evening?
Both work. In the morning, many customers use it to start the day; in the evening, as a moment to unwind. Choose the time that fits your routine. Consistency matters more than timing.
Can I combine it with other treatments?
Yes. You can combine red light therapy with massage, physical therapy, exercise, and your regular skincare routine, for example. If you're receiving treatment, let your healthcare provider know.

What is the difference between ATP Pure and ATP Pro?
The ATP Pure has 4 wavelengths (630, 660, 810, and 850 nm), four buttons, and a timer. Simple and more affordable. The ATP Pro has 8 wavelengths, a touchscreen, dimming, a pulse mode, and higher light intensity. Build quality, warranty, and trial period are the same. Compare them on the ATP Pure series and ATP Pro series pages.
What panel size should I choose?
The 300 (Pure) and 350 (Pro) are for your face or one area. The 700 covers about half your body, while the 1500 covers about three-quarters in one session. For full-body coverage, combine two panels on the stand.
Do I need a stand?
Not necessarily. You can set a panel upright or hang it up. You need the horizontal stand if you want to use the light while lying down or combine two panels. It fits the 700 and 1500 models of both the Pure and Pro. It’s included with the sets.
What do I use the ReviveTorch or the TheraFlex for?
The ReviveTorch is a wireless handheld lamp with five wavelengths. Hold it close to the skin and aim it at small areas such as your hands, wrists, and knees. It’s easy to take with you.
The TheraFlex is a belt with red (660 nm) and near-infrared (850 nm) light that you wrap around your back, knee, shoulder, or abdomen. It comes in wireless and corded versions. You can sit or walk around comfortably while wearing it; it’s best not to wear it during exercise.
ATP Pro and ATP Pure
What wavelengths are in the panels?
The ATP Pro has 8 wavelengths: 590, 630, 660, 810, 850, 940, 1060, and 1072 nm. The ATP Pure has 4: 630, 660, 810, and 850 nm.
Red light (630 and 660 nm) works mainly on the skin. Near-infrared (810 to 1072 nm) penetrates deeper, reaching the muscles and joints. Yellow light (590 nm, Pro only) targets skin tone. Learn more about red light wavelengths.
How do I set the time and intensity?
On the ATP Pro, use the touchscreen to set the timer (up to 30 minutes), light intensity, and pulse mode. You can switch red and near-infrared light on or off separately, or choose all wavelengths at once. The ATP Pure is controlled with four buttons: red, near-infrared, both at once, and the timer.
Can I use the panel on my face and scalp?
Yes. For your skin, you mainly use red light (630 and 660 nm), at a distance of 15 to 30 cm, for 10 to 20 minutes, 3 to 5 times a week. Wear the protective glasses or keep your eyes closed. Red light is also used in research for the scalp. This requires patience: expect to use it regularly for several months.
Do the panels help with muscle and joint recovery?
Near-infrared penetrates into muscles and joints. Research links it to improved circulation, faster recovery after exercise, and reduced stiffness. That’s why many customers use their panel after working out or for stiff joints. Results vary from person to person; consult your doctor if you have any concerns. Also read Red light therapy for muscle recovery.
What about EMF, flicker, and heat?
Our panels are flicker-free and tested for electromagnetic fields: at the recommended use distance, levels remain low. The light feels pleasantly warm but does not heat your skin. At 15 cm, we measure approximately 216 mW/cm² with the ATP Pro (solar meter).
LED mask
What does the Panacea LED Mask do?
The mask combines blue (415 nm), yellow (590 nm), red (633 nm), and near-infrared light (850 and 1072 nm). With six programs, you can choose one to suit your skin goals, such as collagen, complexion, redness, or blemish-prone skin. Also read Does an LED mask work?.
How often should I use the LED mask?
10 minutes per session, 3 to 5 times per week, on clean, dry skin with your eyes closed. Start a few times a week and build up. More isn't better; consistency is.
LED mask or panel for my face?
The mask sits directly on your face, has programs for specific skin goals, and lets you move around freely. Ideal if your skin is your main focus. A panel also illuminates your face, but also your body, for muscles, joints, and relaxation.
What is the difference compared to the version with neck and décolleté?
The same wavelengths, programs, and controller, with a separate section for your neck and upper décolleté. You can find answers to all other questions about the mask in the FAQ about the LED mask.
