What clinical studies show

For knee joints, a randomized, double-blind study described a clear reduction in pain scores after several weeks of LED therapy with 850 nm. For hand joints, a 2024 study examined high-density LED irradiation in 23 participants: after eight 18-minute sessions, improvements in comfort and hand function were measured.

How it works

Photobiomodulation moderates the inflammatory response in the joint capsule, supports cartilage cells, and inhibits enzymes that break down cartilage. Red light (660 nm) acts on superficial tissue; near-infrared light (850 nm and higher) reaches the joint itself.
