LED Light Therapy for Acne and Acne Scars

LED light therapy for acne and acne scars: proven effective. Blue light kills bacteria, red light restores. Panacea LED mask.

Acne is one of the most common skin conditions and often leaves scars. LED light therapy offers a scientifically substantiated, non-invasive treatment that addresses both active acne and existing scars.

Blue light against acne bacteria

Blue light around 415 nm has a direct antimicrobial effect on Cutibacterium acnes, the bacterium responsible for inflammatory acne. This bacterium produces porphyrins that absorb blue light, creating reactive oxygen species that kill the bacterium. Red light of 633 nm works complementarily by reducing inflammation and regulating sebaceous gland activity.

What does the research say?

An extensive review in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences (2024) describes three parallel mechanisms of action: modulation of inflammation, antimicrobial effects, and regulation of sebaceous gland activity. The Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology (2024) confirms that LED therapy is effective and safe for mild to moderate acne vulgaris.

Scar healing

For acne scars, red and near-infrared wavelengths stimulate collagen production and tissue remodeling. The Panacea LED mask combines 415 nm, 590 nm, 633 nm and 850/1072 nm for simultaneous treatment of active acne and scar healing.
