Promoting Wound Healing with Light Therapy

Wound healing was the very first application of light therapy. In 1967, physician Endre Mester discovered that low-energy red laser light accelerated wound healing.

All phases of healing

Red and near-infrared light promotes all three phases of wound healing. In the inflammatory phase, it modulates immune cells. In the proliferative phase, it stimulates fibroblasts and keratinocytes, and promotes angiogenesis. In the remodeling phase, it normalizes collagen deposition.

Chronic wounds

There is particularly strong evidence for chronic, poorly healing wounds such as diabetic ulcers and pressure ulcers. Photobiomodulation stimulates these wounds by restoring cellular energy production and improving local blood circulation.

The ATP Pro series offers the most complete spectrum with eight wavelengths: shorter wavelengths (590-660 nm) for superficial tissue, longer wavelengths (850-1072 nm) for deeper tissue.
